Celebrating 100 Years of Mascotte – A Special Message from Our Council Members
As the City of Mascotte proudly celebrates its 100th anniversary, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what makes our city truly special.
To honor this historic milestone, our dedicated council members have shared their personal thoughts on what Mascotte means to them—what they love most, their favorite memories, and why our community stands out as a place to live, work, and grow.
Here's to 100 years of Mascotte—and many more to come!
Mayor Steven Sheffield - “As Mayor, I am incredibly proud of the journey we’ve taken together. We’ve witnessed the growth of Macotte from a small, quite town into a thriving community; and we’ve done so by staying true to the spirit of unity and collaboration that has always defined us.”
Mayor Pro-Tem Jessica Bruno - “We are a community, filled with compassion, heart and hard-working citizens. Everyone is family, everyone is a neighbor and a friend. As we continue to grow, my hope is we never lose sight of what is truly important. God created us to live in community, giving and receiving support, which lead to generosity and gratitude.”
Council Member Randy Brasher - “My family moved to the City of Mascotte in 1959, at that time Mascotte was a small town of about seven hundred and today the population is around 9,000. I have seen this City grow to what it is today with new businesses like the Dollar General, Family Dollar and so many more. I have been a part of the City of Mascotte as the former Fire Chief for over 30 years prior to being a City Councilor. Mascotte has always been a part of my everyday life of which I am immensely proud. Mascotte still has the feel of a small Town and as we grow, we need to except and welcome new residents to our amazing community to make the City I love be a City of family and friends working together for a better tomorrow”.
Council Member Meghan DeSoto - “Working and serving my fellow citizens is not just a job, it’s my privilege. I’m inspired every day by the vibrant diversity, the shared sense of community, and the warmth that makes this place feel like home. It’s an honor to serve in a city where every individual, culture, and story matters”.
Council member Robin Hughes - “What sets Mascotte apart is the very thing that makes this city so special to me. Here in Mascotte we are in COMMUNITY, while other people from other areas may think they are in Community the reality is they are only in PROXIMITY. The people of Mascotte understand that true Community requires compassion, commitment and transparency. This community shows the immense power that transcends when a group of people with similar interest gets together and work towards the same goal. Our community is small but impactful”.
Warm regards,
Annamarie Reno - City Manager, ICMA-CM
